Graphical Data Processing and Multimedia

In October 2015 Prof. Dr. Thorsten Grosch was newly appointed to the professorship in Graphical Data Processing and Multimedia.
The main focus of the chair is global illumination in computer graphics, i.e. the photorealistic image synthesis of three dimensional scenes.
This physically correct simulation of light is useful in many applications in virtual and augmented reality. The graphics hardware (GPU) is used to accelerate the simulation and for general purpose computations.
